New Year's Eve 2009 - The Four Girls

I was contacted on December 30, 2009 about taking in four kittens for "a week". They actually ended up staying about a month. I picked up the four female kittens on New Year's Eve. Three were siblings and the fourth was from another litter and slightly older. She was also much more rambunctious than the others. I did not name this litter. If I had, I would have given them non-food related names. The four were Bubbles (the unrelated kitten), Twinkie, Honey Bun and Cupcake (pictured in the banner above). Because the three smaller girls were so similar in color and markings, it made it difficult to figure out who was who until I took them back to the shelter and we could scan their microchips.

While all kittens are adorable, Cupcake and Honey Bun were the snuggliest.  As soon as I would get any part of my body horizontal, Cupcake was right there. She and her sister, Honey Bun, would take refuge on my lap or shoulders while Twinkie and Bubbles chased each other around the room. As the protocols had changed at the shelter requiring fewer distemper shots before kittens were allowed back at the shelter, I only had them for a few weeks. Plus, being the winter, kittens were in short supply. They very quickly were adopted.
